Sev Ulgu
MSc, BSc (Hons)

Sev is a Psychological Therapist and CBT Practitioner working with both adults and young people across a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. She also has experience as a Support and Development Worker, supporting adults with complex needs to build confidence, strengthen coping strategies, and make meaningful changes towards wellbeing and independence.  Her background includes two years at Hope Park Counselling Centre delivering CBT-based therapy to children and young people, as well as roles as a School Counsellor and Meaningful Activity Worker within the NHS, providing compassionate support across multidisciplinary mental health and medical teams.

Sev holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and gained a distinction in her MSc in Psychological Therapies from the University of Edinburgh, where she also completed a Diploma in CBT.  A graduate member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS), Sev is pursuing additional accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).

Within her therapeutic work, she is confident in using a structured, collaborative, and evidence-based approach. She works with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including low mood and depression, anxiety disorders (such as GAD, health anxiety, and social anxiety), panic, stress, OCD, trauma, sleep problems, and low self-esteem. Her practice is rooted in CBT, while also integrating elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.

She is particularly passionate about working with clients who experience stress, anxiety, difficulties with self-worth, and the unique challenges faced by expatriates. Her therapeutic approach centres on building a strong therapeutic relationship, collaboratively identifying goals, and empowering clients with tools and insights to support long-term change and resilience.

Sev works online with adults, children, young people, and families, offering evening and weekend sessions to make therapy more accessible and easier to integrate into busy lives.  She welcomes both self-referrals and referrals from professionals.   She offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients (£100 assessment, thereafter £75 per session).  Sev works with young people from the age of 16+, students and adults.

Sev is fluent in both English and Turkish and can offer therapy sessions in Turkish if preferred.
