Sev Ulgu
MSc, BSc (Hons)
Sev is an experienced Psychological Therapist and CBT Practitioner. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and gained a distinction in her MSc in Psychological Therapies from the University of Edinburgh, where she also completed a Diploma in CBT. A graduate member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS), Sev is pursuing additional accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).
She has gained extensive experience across a variety of settings, including two years of clinical work at Hope Park Counselling Centre, delivering therapy within a CBT framework both online and in-person. Her clinical practice has included working as a School Counsellor supporting children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties, and as a meaningful activity worker within the NHS, offering compassionate support across multidisciplinary teams in both mental health and medical settings.
Within her therapeutic work, she is confident in using a structured, collaborative, and evidence-based approach. She works with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including low mood and depression, anxiety disorders (such as GAD, health anxiety, and social anxiety), panic, stress, OCD, trauma, sleep problems, and low self-esteem. Her practice is rooted in CBT, while also integrating elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.
She is particularly passionate about working with children, young people, and adults experiencing stress, anxiety, and difficulties with self-worth. Her therapeutic approach focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship, collaboratively identifying goals, and empowering clients with tools and insights to support long-term change and resilience.
Sev currently offers weekday appointments on Monday and Thursday evenings both online and face-to-face, and weekend appointments Saturday morning and afternoon (online only), and welcomes both self-referrals and referrals from professionals. She offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients (£100 assessment, thereafter £75 per session). Sev works with young people from the age of 16+, students and adults.
Sev is fluent in both English and Turkish and can offer therapy sessions in Turkish if preferred.
