Jenny Kerr
MSc, MA (Hons)

Jenny is an experienced Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology.  She qualified with a Masters degree in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care from the Universities of Dundee and Stirling in 2015.  This is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Training Course Level 1 by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).  She also holds a certificate in Counselling Skills from the University of Edinburgh.  She is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society.

She has worked in a range of settings, including NHS Adult Psychology Services for over 5 years, and within private psychiatric healthcare, delivering both individual and group therapy.  She is confident in practising within a pure CBT approach and also blending accrued training in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Unified Protocol (UP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to fit the needs and therapy goals of the client as required.

Within her practice, Jenny uses a structured and evidence-based approach to work with clients experiencing a range of emotional difficulties including low mood or depression, anxiety, anger and stress, uncontrollable worry, health anxiety, phobias, panic, agoraphobia, PTSD, low self-esteem, grief, and sleep problems.  She recognises that often more than one emotional difficulty can be experienced at a time and her work centres on tailoring the therapeutic journey to identify the key areas of focus within the fuller picture of a client’s life and upskill the client to help them manage their difficulties and to work towards their goals.

Her specialist areas are anxiety and stress, low mood, and low self-esteem.  She holds a special interest in building and maintaining motivational change and self-assertion through the use of CBT or blended techniques.

Jenny currently offers daytime sessions  (face-to-face or online) on Wednesday and Thursday, and an evening clinic on Monday and Tuesday.  She
offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients for therapy (£100 assessment, thereafter £80 per session).  She offers online as well as face-to-face appointments.
